Funnel Trap – Reusable Moth Trap for Effective Moth Control

A funnel trap is a durable plastic moth trap designed to capture harmful moths. This trap is reusable every year and works in combination with a pheromone capsule that is specific to the targeted moth or butterfly species.

Note: This package does not include pheromone capsules. The necessary capsules can be ordered separately from our webshop. Without a pheromone capsule, the trap will not be effective.

How Does the Funnel Trap Work?

The pheromone capsule is placed inside the pheromone holder, which is then clipped into the trap’s lid. The lid is attached to the funnel, which is then secured onto the catch container. Male moths are attracted by the pheromone scent and fly around the trap. Eventually, they become exhausted and fall into the catch container.

This method helps monitor and control moth populations. The more male moths are trapped, the fewer females can be fertilized. This leads to fewer eggs being laid and fewer damaging caterpillars.

Additionally, the pheromone trap provides insight into the moth flight period, allowing you to determine the optimal timing for any additional pest control measures, if needed.

When and How Many Moth Traps to Use?

The funnel trap should be placed throughout the entire flight period of the targeted moth species. The exact timing varies per species and can be found in the product descriptions of our complete packages.

The recommended number of traps per area is also specified in the package descriptions for each moth species.

Funnel Trap or Delta Trap? Which One to Choose?

In most cases, the funnel trap is the best option. However, for certain moth species, such as codling moth, plum moth, grape berry moth, leek moth, gray flour moth, and Indian meal moth, the delta trap is more effective. In these cases, we recommend using a delta trap. For all other moth species, the funnel trap is the preferred choice.
